interview with people

To research about oral-health I prepared some questions and made a survey. My aim was to learn why people afraid of dentists. Where comes the dental phobia? From childhood or because of a bad experience they had from past and how can we stop this phobia? After the interview i understood that i am not alone because most of people afraid of dentists..Everyone has another story and i find out very interesting phobias...Here are my questions and people's answers:
1-Do you go to your routine dental care?
Twice a year as my insurance covers.

2-What are the things that you do not like about dentists? For example:
Dentist's uniform, the smell in the dentists, the equipments
(drilling), the chair etc...
The sounds of equipment and the smell of dentist's rubber gloves

3-What do you think, why people are afraid of dentists?
The idea of having a drill in our mouth and it can be painful. The
treatment occurs so close to our important senses such us hearing, smelling,
and seeing that the experience tends to be exaggerated in our memory.
Simply childhood memory.

4-In your opinion, what must be changed in dentists not to make
people afraid of them?
It will be nice if all the equipments are soundless. The dentist definitely
stop using rubber gloves because it makes me feel sick. Atmosphere is
important.

5-Do you know about new technology in dentists. What I mean is new
equipments (e.g. lazer technique) ?
None.

6-Can you tell me your ideal dentist?Create new dent chair new pink
sugar made equipments, a good smell in the room, a new uniform for
dentist. Just imagine, it is for free:)
Would be nice if the chair is massage chair and have foot massage or hands
massage done at the same time. They can turn down the room lightning and
only use spot light, burn lavender scent, and play a relaxing music just
like a massage place.

7-Did you have any bad experience? If so, can you tell me about it?
When I was a kid, I was too afraid of the dentist that I pee on the dentist
chair.

8-When do you go to the dentist? When do you have a pain or do you go only
for
check up?
Check up and cleaning. Twice a year, six months apart.

9-Why do you think our teeth are important? Health or beauty reasons ?
Both health and beauty. Teeth are as important as eyes which people see
when they talk so we tend to cautious how it looks. I also heard that not
having healthy teeth has a big impact on our health later on. Also, we want
to be able to eat whatever we want and enjoy the meals. Eating is an
important activity for human being as much as sleeping, pooping etc.

10-Does the condition of teeth effect the communication between people?
I do not have bad teeth for now so I do not have insecurity about it.
However, when I see people whose gum is brown, I feel bad for them. If I
have a brown color gum, I probably do not enjoy singing Karaoke and open my
mouth really big.
Yoshiko from Japan..
